In news content apps, sharing is a frequent activity. As research shows, 70% of users depend on their friends to share news on social networks. Currently, the share flow consists of at least three steps (tap the share icon, select the social network, confirm to share). When creating an iOS app called Seconds, we wanted to see if there's a way to improve the flow.
The Requirement
Seconds is an iOS app that delivers news in bite-sized format and wants to encourage the person to share particular news content on social media. The person should move as fast as possible between news content and remain in the flow even if sharing it on social media.
After some initial prototypes and testing, we developed an alternative that worked for the people and us. When sharing for the first time, the person selects the default social network. Once selected, the person taps and swipes up to share particular news content.
